The Trinity River

"The Trinity River in Winter"
by Christine Fong

The Trinity River was once one of the finest anadromous fish rivers in northern California. Because water diversion and dams do not allow salmon and steelhead to reach their historic spawning areas, the Trinity produces just a fraction of the fish it once did. In the last decade, the government has spent 70 million dollars in hopes of discovering ways to rehabilitate the stream, most of it for naught.
