The excellent trout fishing on the upper Clark Fork of the Columbia River was adversely affected by a toxic spill from accumulated material from a holding reservoir in February 1996. Is it any wonder why conservationists fear the mine planned for the Big Blackfoot, a Clark Fork tributary. The Clark Fork below Missoula fishing good in 1997 and 1998.
Volume IV, Number 3, May 1995
Since our visit, the Summit B&B on Georgetown Lake has been sold and is now a private residence.
On the report on Lake Almanor and Butt Valley Reservoir, we were guided by Milt Jensen. Milt has a new mailing address and telephone number. These are PO Box 45, Chico, CA 95927-0045 and (530/343-4071). Butt Valley Reservoir was drained in the spring of 1996 and closed to fishing.

The East Walker River flowing through Rosaschi Ranch in Nevada is now opened to the public. Current regulations restrict the fishing to catch-and-release with barbless hook lures and flies.
Volume V, Number 1, January 15, 1996
A stream now flows across the meadow behind Henderson Springs Lodge. Some of our readers staying here have taken trout measuring twenty inches from the creek. A new lake has also been created for angling.
Volume VI, Number 3, May 15, 1997
The Beside Manor B&B on the Crowsnest River has increased its occupancy. Expect more pressure on the stream from other anglers.
Volume VI, Number 4, July 15, 1997
The Steamboat Lake Fishing Company has changed hands is now owned by Duncan draper. The fishing on the Yampa River west of town still offers high quality fishing and now Steamboat Lake Fishing Company offers fishing on a private tailwater stretch of the Yampa that is especially productive from November through mid April. For those who enjoy skiing, this would be a great opportunity to set aside a day to fish too. The rate for a single anglers is $245 and covers lunch, beverage, flies, leaders and guiding.

Since our report on Sugar Creek Ranch, another pond has been created this is suitable for float tubing. Subscribers have reported excellent fishing on the ponds and landing some gigantic rainbows.

On our report on the upper Klamath River (downstream of Irongate Reservoir), we fished with Gerry Gray. We are sad to report that Gerry has since passed away. We are now unaware of any guides who specialize in flyfishing on the upper Klamath, but if we find a reliable one, we'll post a notice.
