. THE.. ANGLER .INSIDE

........For the remainder of the day, we hooked a few more trout, but none measured more than eighteen inches. The wind grew in intensity as dusk came upon us and we were glad to reach the take-out. We spent the night at Sweet Dreams Inn, the newest motel in Green River.
........On Sunday, competition with other anglers for the water was much greater than our first two days. Chris and I fished separately. Bennie and I were in one boat and she was with Dennis Watts, one of Bennie's guides, in another. In addition to our boats, there were two other dories plus a rubber raft with three anglers.
........The fishing for us on this day was less productive than the previous days. A twenty-four-inch rainbow taken on a Royal Stimulator was the largest trout we landed. We landed three other trout eighteen inches or larger plus some smaller fish, but the fish in the river were not active. Perhaps the gradual lowering of the flow starting on Saturday from 1,100 cfs to a projected low of 750 cfs within a couple of weeks was responsible for the down turn in our fishing. This reduction of the water was necessary to work on some of the sills.
........My impression of the fishing on this stretch of the Green is that if you seek larger than average size trout that are challenging to catch without a lot of competition from other anglers, you will find it here. On the day of our departure, a storm moved in with high winds and rain.
